Secrets to keeping perfume scent longer

Perfumes are an integral part of our identity and personal style, as they create an unforgettable impression on others. However, many people face the problem of the perfume disappearing quickly after a few hours of application. Maintaining the scent of the perfume for longer does not only require buying the most expensive perfumes, but is mainly due to following correct techniques and habits in storing and using it.

Moisturizing the skin before spraying the perfume

Dry skin quickly absorbs the essential oils and leads to the evaporation of the perfume in a short time, while moist skin acts as a gripping base for the perfume molecules. It is preferable to spray the perfume immediately after showering, when the skin pores are open. You can use an unscented moisturizer or petroleum jelly on pulse points before spraying the perfume to enhance its longevity for as long as possible.

Correct targeting of pulse points

Pulse points are areas where blood vessels are close to the surface of the skin, which generates natural heat that helps distribute the perfume continuously.

  • The most prominent pulse points:

    • Wrists

    • Sides of the neck and behind the ears

    • Inner part of the elbows

    • Behind the knees

Avoid rubbing the wrists

One of the common mistakes is rubbing the wrists together after spraying the perfume. This movement breaks down the perfume molecules and causes the light top notes to burn off, which reduces the quality of the scent and its longevity on the skin. Let the perfume dry completely on your skin freely.

Correct ways to store the perfume

The perfume is strongly affected by environmental factors such as light, heat, and humidity.

  • Avoid placing perfumes in the bathroom due to changes in heat and high humidity.

  • Store the bottle in a cool, dark place, such as a closet or its original box, to protect its chemical composition from decomposition.
